4-year graduation courses
65-41-L/01 Gastronomy
- this course prepares students for practical performance and for business activities connected with public catering
- general education is structured as language education, social science and science education
- practical education provides the students´ knowledge and skills from gastronomy, economics, accounting, IT and other subjects
- graduates are prepared for practical performance in public catering in restaurants, cafés, hotels
- studies are finished with a final exam "Maturita"
- after finishing this course it is possible to continue with university studies

65-42-M/02 Tourism services
- general and practical preparation is enlarged in culture studies, at least two foreign languages education, law-economics subjects and other special preparation for the tourism branch
- graduates can be employed in accommodation services, public catering, transport services, travel agency, spa services, etc.
- studies are finished with a final exam "Maturita"
- after finishing this course it is possible to continue with university studies

29-54-H/01 Candymaker
- this course focuses on dessert production, practical education takes place in school workshop and in selected restaurants in the region
- studies are finished with a vocational certificate
- graduates can continue with further education in Enterprise course

- the course focuses 2/3 on food preparation and 1/3 on serving skills
- practical education takes place in a school canteen and in a school winebar and also in selected restaurants and hotels
- students participate on preparation of public catering events in the region
- studies are finished with a vocational certificate
- graduates can continue with further education in Enterprise course

- graduates can provide garden services in plant production branch
- students are prepared for activities such as multiplying fruit and ornamental material, growing flowers, fruit and vegetables, etc.

- studies are finished with a vocational certificate
- graduates can continue with further education in Enterprise course

School Philosophy
- Creating nonanonymous pleasant environment with good interpersonal relationship for the students, but at the same time providing high educational, pedagogical and working objectives.
- Applying team cooperation in practical classes concerning working activities in close cooperation with selected partners.
- Chance for maximum number of students to participate in short term work experience abroad – the target countries are Italy, Germany, Austria, Cyprus and Slovakia.

"Through the practical training to the employment"
Project "Through the practical training to the employment" helped students of SOŠ and SOU (Secondary vocational school) in Horky nad Jizerou and its partner school SOŠ and SOU Praha Čakovice gain new skills and experience during their internship abroad. Students take part in the internship in five European countries- Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Cyprus and Italy. They can obtain new experience in professions as a cook-waiter, farmer, travel guide.
The management and implementation team ensures the preparation, evaluation and dissemination of the internship projects according to the action plan and timetable. Selection of students is carried out according to established criteria. The main condition is an active interest in the internship. Participation of students with learning and behavioural disorders, students from socially weak families without previous experience in travelling abroad is supported. All students are included into teams doing business in the fields of their study. The employees of these firms generally show a great willingness to cooperate. They pass their experience to their trainees and help them overcome difficulties. The internship participants are accommodated in a hostel, hotel or pension. Important aspect of fulfilled goals is the positive change in students´ behaviour, their attitude to education, developing their confidence and adaptability. The internship also helps students not only to be more independent but also be ready for teamwork. Giving an opportunity even to weaker and problem students to take part in this Internship is a positive motivation for better results in the study. The students obtain high quality vocational skills, experience and better communication skills in a foreign language. They improve their practical skills in relevant speciality- national gastronomy, regional tourism and using agricultural production in agro tourism. Meaningful influence on leisure is useful for the prevention of negative phenomena among students. Evaluation is focused on use for changing work forms and methods. Our school has started to apply them in connection with the introduction of new educational programs since September 1, 2009. The project experience is going to be distributed within the common project OPVK- Journey to modern education for all involved vocational schools. Within the dissemination we are continuing to offer experience gained by arranging of long-term internships abroad to other schools and organizations. The project proved success of the school philosophy- that the internship abroad is an important part of training and education of students.
